Donella Lisette Hylton

“There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven .” Ecclesiastes 3:1 A Time to Be Born: DONELLA Lisette HYLTON was born on September 21, 1979, in the sunny city of Miami, FL, and was the proud daughter of Samuel J. Taylor and the late Angelette Denise Taylor. As a child, Donella was smart, polite, and caring. She was cherished by her parents, siblings, and her entire extended family. A Time to Fulfill Purpose and Dreams: Donella was a true product of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools System where she attended all her neighborhood schools, including the iconic superior-rated Miami Jackson Senior High School. While a student at Miami Jackson, Donella was the Class President of 1998, a member of many clubs, and a student in the International Business & Finance Magnet Program. Donella furthered her education at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL where she received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Criminology and a minor in Sociology. After her college years in 2002, Donella joined the Metropolitan Police Institute Basic Law Enforcement where she was in the law enforcement class 88 and graduated on March 26, 2004. It was at this time she entered the workforce working for Miami Dade County Police Department Northside District, and over the years Donella worked her way up to become a Lieutenant of the MDPD Records Bureau for nearly over 20 years where she was respected and cherished by her colleagues. A Time to Love and Give Birth: While living her life to the fullest, Donella met Gavin Hylton on the job at the old Northside Police Station. Gavin was amazed by the strength and firmness Donella displayed and asked for her hand in marriage. The two have been married since February 2009. With her union with Gavin, Donella gave birth to a happy and talented baby, Tatianna and three years after Tatianna came Kayla, her warrior princess. Donella sacrificed her time and energy for her girls. Where you saw her, you saw them. Donella earned the greatest title she would ever know: Mother. She was so proud to be Tatianna and Kayla’s mother. Donella was an amazing mother who was driven by the need to provide for her children and teach them about black girl magic. A Time to Rest: Donella was a loving, caring, and devoted daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, mother and friend who was loved by many. Her tenacity for life was impeccable. Donella had given this world all she had to give and continued to fight, but on Thursday, January 19, 2023, God spoke and said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, NLT). “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21, NLT) A Time to Mourn: Proceeding her in death by her mother Angelette Denise Taylor She leaves behind to cherish her memories: Her husband Gavin Hylton; daughters, Tatianna and Kayla Hylton; Father Samuel J. Taylor; siblings Corey Taylor. Sr (Tameeka), Kendra Taylor, Brianna Taylor, and Lydann Brown; nephews and niece Corey L. Taylor Jr., Tacora Taylor, and Aiden Taylor-Williams.
