Janice Marie McKoy, the daughter of the late Marie Glover Brinson and King David McKoy was born on January 6, 1956, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She departed this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

She lived in North Carolina in her early years. She moved to New York City with her family and attended Washington Irving High School. She continued her education and received a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York. She would later go on to do graduate work with the Urban League in Raleigh, NC, and in New York City. She worked for a time at Lincoln Center in New York. She worked in the creative arts everywhere. She was a creative and unique individual who loved life and had a big smile. She was known for her different clothing and helped others to look their best.

Those left to reflect upon her life are many. Besides her parents, her two sisters, Betty McKoy and Joanne Glover-Leonard; two brothers, King Agrippa McKoy and Willie Leon McKoy preceded her in death.

She is survived by: two sisters, Diane McKoy of New York and Brenda Fite of Florida; one brother, Donald Dwayne McKoy (Ann) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three aunts, Queen McGeachy, Armilee McGeachy and Bessie McKoy of St. Pauls, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Roberta McKoy of Boston, Massachusetts; eight nieces, Tina, Nicole, Tijuana, Kayla, Kendra, Joette, Tamera and Beverly; ten nephews, Derrick, Nicki, Keithan, Chad, Shawn, Mike, Harry Jr., Craig, Darryl, and Quentin; she had two godchildren, Kendra Fite and Bryce Shackelford; in addition, a host of cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and loved ones; she also leaves two special friends, Arthur and Charlene M of New York City
