Laura Gail Morrison

On August 15, 1951, Laura Gail Hill Morrison, was born to Horace and Dorothy Marshall Hill, in Daytona Beach Florida, and was the first born of this union. Laura departed this life and went to heaven on March 7, 2013, in Miami, Florida. Laura grew up in Daytona Beach, and attended Bonner Elementary School and graduated from Mainland Senior High School in 1969. Upon graduation, she left for Washington, D. C., and attended Howard University, from 1969-1972, and graduated from Bethune Cookman University, Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1973, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. in 1973. Laura began her career in education at Samsula Elementary School (Samsula, Florida). In 1975, she moved to Miami, Florida, and launched a lifelong career in Education with the Miami Dade County Public School System. In 1976, she met and married the love of her life, George Morrison. Laura taught Kindergarten for many years and she received the title of Curriculum Support Specialist (Language Arts) for the Miami Dade School System, where she also held other various titled positions during her tenure there. In 1990, Laura attended the University of Miami Law School and received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree. She practiced Law with her father, Attorney Horace E. Hill, (until 2007) in Daytona Beach, as well as operating her practice in Miami. Laura's dedication and commitment to Education spanned a 30 year long career history, with the Miami Dade County Public School System of which she retired in 2007. Laura worked part-time as a Writing Instructor, (Coconut Palm K-8 Academy) until her passing. Laura and George were blessed with two beautiful daughters: Dr. LaNita Andre Morrison (husband - Dr. Lars Hansen) of Phoenix, Arizona, Laurelynn Dorothy Morrison (Fiance'-Efrem Young) of Miami, Florida, stepson: Markus Morrison, of Miami, Florida, four grandson: Elijah and Solomon Hansen, Myles and Khalil Morrison, sister: Gwendolyn Hill, and brother: Andre Hill, both of Miami, Florida, whom all will love and cherish her memories forever. Laura is preceded in death by her mother Dorothy M. Hill, father Attorney Horace E. Hill, and brother Horace "Tony" Hill Jr. Also left to cherish her memories are cousins: Cynthia Marshall and Willie Marshall of Sarasota, Florida, Tonya Marshall (Daytona Beach, Florida), Deborah LaStrap (Houston, Texas), Lisa Marshall (New York), Tyronne Marshall (Sylvester, Georgia), Reba Marshall Lassiter (Daytona Beach, Florida), Jimmy Marshall (Hinesville, Georgia), and John Marshall (Providence, Rhodes Island), sister-in-laws: Ida Baker (husband - Jerry) Miami, Florida, Virginia Scott (husband - William), Atlanta, Georgia, Yvonne Jacobs, Miami, Florida, brother-in-law: Willie Morrison (wife - Rose), Crawfordville, Florida and a host of nieces and nephews and many close family friends.
