Louis Vincent D'Agnese, age 91, passed away January 7, 2015 in Pembroke Pines, Florida. After coming to this country at the age of six, Louis worked diligently in school and became a member of the Benjamin Franklin Honor Society. After high school, he was a member of the United States Army stationed in England during World War II. He joined the New York City Department of Corrections, worked his way up to the rank of Captain and finally retired as Assistant Deputy Warden. For many years, prior to retirement, Louis was also an active volunteer to the Saint Camillus marching band of Rockaway Beach NY and was affectionately known by members as "Uncle Red". After retirement he moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida.
He is survived by his son Anthony D'Agnese of Roseburg, Oregon; his daughter Rosaleen D'Agnese Myrick of Danville, Vermont; his brother Frank D'Agnese of San Diego, California; his sister Carmela D' Amato of Brooklyn, New York; three grandchildren: Maureen Myrick of Danville, Vermont; Louis D' Agnese of Portland, Oregon; Erin Rose D'Agnese of Seattle, Washington. He is predeceased by wives Maureen Murray D'Agnese and Marjorie Hurewitz D'Agnese.
Interment will be at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York. Interment schedule is pending and will be posted on his website through the Wilcox Family Funeral Home:
