On February 12, 2023, Nigel Sherwin Aleong's journey on earth came to a close as he departed from this life to the next. He was born on February 2, 1974, bringing warmth and hope into the lives of his parents, Alloysius Aleong and Kathleen Prince, and many who knew him.
From a young age, Nigel's magnetic personality attracted many around him, making them laugh, cry, and applaud his stories. He was a force to be reckoned with.
After graduating from American Senior High School in Miami Gardens, Nigel joined the United States Marine Corps before attending the University of Miami. He was blessed with a son, the late Raja Aleong, and later fathered a daughter named Aisha with Sofia Araceli Leman in Mexico City, Mexico where he lived for 20 years—a country whose culture and language he always admired.
Nigel had a great sense of humor and could make those around him laugh until they cried. Nigel also took great pride in his appearance, and he loved to play the song "Free to do what I want any old time" by The Soup Dragons, inspiring others to live their lives to the fullest.
In his later years, Nigel found a church home in Miami, Florida.
Nigel was the oldest of three siblings. He leaves behind his 2 sisters, Natasha Aleong and Nicole Chin, and 1 Brother-in-law Christopher Chin.
He also had many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him deeply. Nigel will be greatly missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
