From childhood, Phyllis embraced life with curiosity and flair. She adored music, fashion, and the beauty of angels—collecting unique angel figurines and treasures that reflected her gentle spirit. Anyone who gifted her an angel knew they were adding to a collection she held close to her heart. As a teenager, she became an avid collector of records, especially the top 10 hits of the time, filling her home with the soundtrack of her youth. Phyllis had remarkable talent for fashion and sewing. She had a special ability: spotting an outfit in a magazine or store and recreating it with precision. Phyllis always added her signature touch—extra sparkle, pizzazz, and bold creativity. Her talent was so admired that family and friends often sought her out to design outfits for their most meaningful occasions. Though she did not have children of her own, Phyllis was a devoted mother to her beloved fur babies—her chihuahuas Teeny Tiny and later Coco Chanel, lovingly known as Pup a lup. They were inseparable. Pup was always nestled in her arms or resting on her lap, and when they ventured out, both were fashionably dressed, turning heads wherever they went. In 1976, Phyllis proudly joined the United States Army, rising to the rank of E4. She later continued her service to the nation as a Customs Agent for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, where she worked with dedication until her retirement. Phyllis lived life boldly and on her own terms. She loved fast cars, especially her Porsches and BMWs, yet she was known for driving 25 miles per hour unless there was an emergency. One unforgettable memory came during a crisis at home: while driving through Pembroke Pines, a black Porsche shot across the intersection like a shadow. It was Phyllis—moving with urgency, determination, and that unmistakable spirit. Catching up to her was impossible. She was one of the hardest-working people her family had ever known. Phyllis often worked double and even triple shifts for weeks or months at a time. She believed deeply in earning everything she had. Through her relentless work ethic, she enjoyed the finer things in life—beautiful homes, luxury cars, and the pride of knowing she achieved it all through her own strength. Phyllis lived by a powerful philosophy: “Respect yourself by earning your own income. Then no man can claim your freedom, your movement, your body, or your soul.” Growing up during a time when many homes lacked a father figure shaped her outlook on relationships. Conversations about marriage or children often ended things quickly. She guarded her heart fiercely and valued her independence above all else. Phyllis kept her circle small. She was private, selective, and intentional. If she called you family, friend, or companion, you were truly blessed. Her trust was earned, never given lightly. Baby Sis, you will be deeply missed, especially during those long drives home when the instinct to call you still lingers. Phyllis leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and all who were fortunate enough to be welcomed into her inner circle.
